The Morse Code alphabet consists of both periods and dashes that represent letters. For example, the letter "S" is written "...", and the letter "O" is written "---". The distress signal "SOS" is written ".../---/...".
Before voice was transmittable, Morse Code was the sole form of long distance communication
Morse Code is sometimes written with a slash (/) between letters, to stop you from getting the letters confused. A double slash (//) means a break between words.
